Mainstream media uses “cutting edge” techniques to cash in on successful advertising campaigns that promote overly sexualized images of young girls, and demeaning stereotypes of young women. Many advertisements misrepresent what is truly beautiful. They glamorize violence against women, minimize women by depicting them as objects, and create unhealthy standards of thinness.
